As Bound With Them
Hebrews 13:3

  1. Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

We should remember those who are in prison as if we were in prison with them.  And those who suffer adversity, who are mistreated or persecuted, we should remember since we are also ‘in the body.’  It’s easy to get so wrapped up with what’s going on in our own lives that we forget others who are suffering or going through difficult times.

We should empathize with others and what they are going through.  He says to remember those that are bound, ‘as bound with them.’  The Amplified Bible says "Remember those who are in prison, as if you were their fellow prisoner;"

Rather than ignoring or forgetting people who are going through difficult times we need to remember them as if we ourselves were going through the same things.  We tend to think if we can’t see it or don’t think about it then it’s not really happening.  But for us to have the mind of God as He desires us to, we need to face these situations as well.

Confession:

I will remember those who are in prison or suffering adversity and empathize with them.  I will not forget others who are in difficult circumstances.
