Remembering Our Leaders
Hebrews 13:7

  1. Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God; whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

Those who have ‘the rule over us’ are those who have led and guided us with a certain amount of authority.  They are those who have spoken the Word of God to us and whose lives show fruit.

When we consider the fruit that their lives have produced we are to follow their faith.  Some translations say, ‘imitate their faith.’  We need to remember and consider how they have lived and the result of how they’ve lived their lives.  There is a lot we can learn from the lives of those who have faithfully followed the Lord.

Right after this verse he says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today and forever."  There’s a constancy with the Lord.  He remains faithful throughout our lives.  As we are faithful to Him and His Word we see the result of His faithfulness to us (And He’s still faithful even if we’re not!).  His faithfulness is evident in the lives of those who have remained with Him.

Confession:

I will remember those who have led me and have spoken the Word of God to me.  When I consider the fruit of their lives and their faithfulness to the Lord I will follow their example of faith, knowing that the Lord is faithful.

Obedience is a tree of life!
