Established with Grace, not with Meats
Hebrews 13:9

  1. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

The heart needs to be established with grace.  Our heart, or the core of what we are, including our thoughts and feelings needs to be established with grace.  If we are carried about with teachings that are different from the Word of God and that are contrary to the message of the Gospel then we are no longer establishing our heart with grace.

Teachings concerning religious restrictions or practices concerning sacrifices or food or meals do not profit those who abide by them.  The New Testament teaches faith in Jesus Christ.  It doesn’t teach that we are to keep certain religious rituals for spiritual benefit.  Although we should eat healthy and there may be times you fast to put aside the flesh and tune in to the spirit, but as far as gaining a spiritual benefit from the old religious rituals-sacrifices or dietary restrictions-or new restrictions people may come up with, it is not profitable.

What is profitable for us is the grace of God.  The sure doctrine of the Word of God is profitable to us.

Confession:

I will not be carried away with varied and strange doctrines which do not profit me.  I will stick to the truths of the Word of God which is profitable to me.  My heart will be established with grace.
