September 28 Hebrews 13:11-13
The animal sacrifices under the Old Testament that they offered up to atone for their sin were offered up outside the camp. Jesus also, our ultimate and final sacrifice, was offered outside the gate at Calvary. He says here we should go unto Him without the camp ‘bearing His reproach.’ We need to go away from those things that would keep us from Him and from what He did for us outside the camp where He was sacrificed. We need to identify with Jesus ‘outside the camp’ and separate ourselves from whatever would keep us from identifying with Him. It was our sin He was bearing when He died outside the camp. We need to admit to that. This is how we bear His reproach. Whatever the result of walking and identifying with Him is, we need to bear that. Jesus took our sin and our blame and paid the price for it and rose again victoriously. For us to identify with what He did may begin with humility, repentance or sorrow but it ends with thanksgiving and praise as we receive what He successfully accomplished for us!
Confession: I will go from all that would keep me from identifying with Jesus Christ. I will identify with Him and with what He suffered for me and what He accomplished for me by rising victoriously from the grave, defeating my sin!
Obedience is a tree of life!
