The Sacrifice of Praise
Hebrews 13:15

  1. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

He was just talking about ‘bearing His reproach’ and how Jesus was sacrificed outside the camp just as the Old Testament sacrifices were offered outside the camp.  Here he says to, "by Him…offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually."  This is our sacrifice to God today--our praise, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

In the Old Testament, they offered sacrifices in order to have their sin atoned for.  Under the New Covenant, we offer praise and thanksgiving to God because He has already sacrificed Himself and provided for our cleansing by His blood.  We thank Him for what He’s done.  We receive what He’s done for us by identifying with Him and bearing His reproach and then by offering praise and thanksgiving with our words as our sacrifice to Him today.

Confession:

Thank-You Jesus for sacrificing Yourself for me.  Thank-You for living a sinless life to cleanse me from my sin.  I offer the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to You!

Obedience is a tree of life!
