Inherit Now
Hebrews 6:11-12

  1. And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end;
  2. That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Through faith and patience we inherit the promises of God.  "Promises" is plural.  All of God’s promises we inherit through faith and patience.  We accept this without question concerning our salvation and inheriting eternal life, but this principal applies to everything promised by God.

We need to show diligence to remain steadfast and not be slothful when it comes to inheriting His promises.  We need to put some effort into receiving the promises. We can’t expect all of what He’s promised us to overtake us without us doing anything.  Sometimes people think, "well if it’s God’s will for me to have it He’ll give it to me."  But we have to receive it.  We have something to do to get it.  God didn’t just save you without you doing something to get it.

God’s promises are not just for when we get to Heaven.  They’re for us to receive now.  By the promises He’s given to us we become partakers of His divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world (2 Peter 1:4).  These are promises we receive now while we’re living in the Earth.  The Amplified Bible says, "…and by practice of patient endurance and waiting are (now) inheriting the promises (Hebrews 6:12)."

Confession:

I will not be slothful, but I will give diligence to inherit the promises of God now though faith and patience.

Obedience is a tree of life!
