Magnified

November 11, 2002

"Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified."  Psalm 40:16

Are you one who seeks the Lord?  Then you should rejoice and be glad in Him!  Do you love the Lord’s salvation?  Then you should continually say, "The Lord be magnified!"  We should continually be saying, The Lord be magnified.  That means whether things are going good or going bad we should still be saying, "The Lord be magnified."

What happens when something is magnified?  It’s made bigger in your sight.  You don’t do anything to actually make it bigger.  You just see it as bigger then you did before magnifying it.  It’s increased in your sight.  In the same way when we say, "Let the Lord be magnified" we’re saying, "Let me (or others) see the Lord better.  Let me see Him more clearly, more accurately.  Let Him become bigger in my sight."  It’s not that God Himself needs to increase, because He’s enough already!  But the way you see Him needs to increase.  We can also say, "Lord be magnified in my life" and we’re saying that we want other people to be able to see God in our life.  We want people to be able to see Him more clearly, accurately and convincingly in our lives.

God is big enough already.  He is powerful enough, merciful enough, wise enough, and patient enough to deal with any situation.  But if we don’t see Him clearly, if He’s not magnified in our sight, then the situations and circumstances in our lives may take all of our attention.  We will focus on the problems facing us more than the Lord and those worries will keep us from seeing Him, who is our answer.

"…let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant."  Psalm 35:27

If you are a servant of God, then He takes pleasure in your prosperity.   He enjoys it when you succeed.

Magnify Him. Keep saying, "Let the Lord be magnified."  Continually say it, no matter what the circumstances are in your life.  Let Him become so big in your sight that He shines through into your life and into the lives of those around you.

God Bless you and have a great day!
