The Israelites were between a rock and a hard place. Actually they were between the Sea and their enemy. By looking at either one, it looked impossible for them to escape. The Lord told Moses back in verse 16 to lift up his rod and stretch out his hand over the Sea and divide it. And then the children of Israel would go through on dry ground. At that point He didn’t say how it would happen, He just said to do it. Moses could have tried to reason and debate and say, ‘But Lord, how is this supposed to happen?’ But Moses knew by now when God said to do something He had a way of making it happen if He had someone who would believe Him and obey Him. The Red Sea wind was God’s solution in this situation. If Moses would have tried to look for evidence of the wind ahead of time before stepping out to obey God, He wouldn’t have found it. The wind came at the appointed time by God. And just as Jesus said in John 3:8 the wind blows and you can’t see where it comes from or where it goes, but we can see the effects of the wind and the evidence of the wind once it starts blowing. Moses stretched out his hand in obedience to God and then the wind blew. The effect of that wind was their deliverance. Moses was stretching out his hand in response to a word spoken to him from God. His action was in obedience to a word from God. Our actions on our own can’t deliver us. Our own efforts alone will not make God’s plan happen. But stepping out in faith in response to a spoken word from God will! We should all pray, "What is Your word to me that will cause the Red Sea wind to blow in my life and make the impossible possible?" God Bless you and have a great day! |
