"Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law does he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper." Psalm 1:1-3This person who delights in the law of the Lord and meditates in it day and night is blessed to the point that whatever he does prospers. Like a tree planted by the waters who has a never-ending source of nourishment, this person who delights in the law of the Lord and meditates in it continually has a never-ending source of life. As a result of being continually nourished, everything he does prospers. The law in the Old Testament was the thing that made them right with God. To meditate in the law was to meditate in the thing that made them right with God. For us today, to meditate in Gods law is to meditate in the written Word of God which brings us to the Living Word of God--Jesus Christ. Jesus is the one who makes us right with God. If we meditate in the law of God that shows a desire for righteousness. It shows a desire to please and obey God. That desire for and delight in righteousness is what pleases God. As our delight is in His law, in His Word, it shows our delight and desire to be right with Him. Day and night we say, How can I please Him? We know we can only please Him through Jesus Christ and we diligently pursue pleasing Him. That delight and desire to be right with Him is what God is looking for. Its not how well we do a bunch of good religious acts, its the attitude of our heart. Someone could perfectly obey the Word of God, (or at least think they are), for a period of time and yet not be desiring a relationship and fellowship with God the Father. God takes greater pleasure in those who are desiring to please Him and have fellowship with Him, even if they goof up from time to time. Thank God for His Love, mercy and grace!
God Bless you and have a great day! |
