Build His House April 21, 2000
Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them. At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall? Ezra 5:2-3 What had happened prior to this incident was that Cyrus the king, was commanded by God to have a house built for Him in Jerusalem, (Ezra 1:2). So He told the people of God to go to Jerusalem and build the house of the Lord. Now there were people that were not happy with this and put a stop to it, (because they were not allowed to get in on rebuilding it). But Zerubbabel said enough is enough and he started again, with the help of the prophets of God, to build the house of God. These people came to him and said, "Who has commanded you to build this house?" In other words, "What are you doing, Who told you to do this, and Who are you?" They responded to them by saying, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago,... (Ezra 5:11). As it turned out, the people tried to stop them again and sent a letter to Darius the king telling him to make them stop. They told him what they said about the decree of Cyrus. So Darius searched for the decree and found it. He told those people that not only was he going to not stop them from building the house, but he commanded that they be given whatever they need! We as Gods people today have a command from the King to build His house. When the enemy tries to come and stop us we need to respond by saying, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth and we will build His house!" We have a decree from the King to do it. We have His Word to stand on to back us up. And nobody can stop us from carrying out the will of God in our lives! They had a decree from the king all along, they didnt have to let them stop them from building it. But finally somebody stood up and said, enough is enough! We will build the house of the Lord! When the enemy comes along and says, "Who do you think you are? You cant do this!" You need to stand your ground and obey God! It will be well worth it! |
