Resurrection Life!

In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.  And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.  His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.  Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  Matthew 28:1-6

We’ve done the event of the resurrection a great injustice by making it a mere holiday.  The resurrection is what Jesus came to earth for.   Yes, He came to be crucified-to die and take the punishment for our sin, but if He would have stopped at that we would be without hope and would not have access to the Father.

And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.  1 Corinthians 15:17

It was as necessary for Him to rise from the dead as it was for Him to die.  He came for the purpose of justifying us from our sin.  For that to happen he had to rise from the dead.  After He took on Him all our sin He had to pay for those sins--and the price is death.  Not just physical death, but spiritual death--separation from God.

For those 3 days after He died He went to Hell.  And when He was raised from the dead it was because the price for our sin was paid for!  The very fact that He rose is evidence that the price for our sin was paid.  If our sin were not paid in full He would not have been able to rise from the dead because it was our sin that caused Him to die.

Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.  Romans 4:25

And now that the price is paid in full, we can live our life empowered with His life now, while here on the earth.  We don’t have to wait until we get to Heaven to enjoy this kind of life.

But God,...even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ...and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.   Ephesians 2:4-6 NKJ

Even when we were dead, He made us alive and raised us up.  He made us, (past tense), to sit together in the heavenly places in Christ!  Thank God that He did that for us.  Thank God that we are alive now with His life.   Let’s take full advantage of what Jesus did for us.  He suffered terribly for us.  Let’s receive the fullness of the life He bought for us.   Let’s not waste a drop.  I would hate to think He suffered to purchase something for me that I did not use.  Make a decision to live your life in the fullness of what He purchased for you--Resurrection Life!
