A Vessel fit for the Master’s Use

April 18, 2000

God wants to, and is, pouring out Himself over His people.   Joel says that in the last days He would pour out of His Spirit upon all flesh.

But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.  Acts 2:16-18.

God is pouring His Spirit out upon us but we have to become containers for the power of God.  We have to learn to be able to carry the power and presence of God with us.  We’ve been receiving His presence and letting it spill all over us and blessing us but we need to carry it with us in order to bring it to those people and situations that need it.

Jesus said to His disciples after He gave them authority over the devil and told them to go:

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.  Matthew 10:7-8

They had to bring the power and presence of God with them in order for others to receive what they needed.  In the same way, we are to carry His presence with us to those in our daily lives, and to those situations in our daily lives where we need Him to move.

We don’t carry the presence and power of God in our bodies or in our minds, but in our spirits.  We must do that.  We must be a vessel fit for the Master’s use.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.  2 Timothy 2:20-21.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also utensils of wood and earthenware, and some for honorable and noble use and some for menial and ignoble use.  So whoever cleanses himself from what is ignoble and unclean-who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences- will then himself be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.  2 Timothy 2:20-21, Amplified Bible.

A vessel is a container for something, it holds something.   This word vessel in the Greek also means, ‘implement, equipment or apparatus.’  Something that is used to get the job done.

How do we become this kind of container or tool to carry and release the power and presence of God?

In Him, (the Word), was life... John 1:4.

In the Word of God was life, and there still is life in His Word.   Life is what the power and presence of God is all about.  We need His life to drive out the death that is in people’s lives.  As the disciples went they preached.

The Word of God is like a sponge.  As we increase our knowledge and understanding of His Word and receive revelation of it then that Word within us becomes a sponge, or a container, to carry the presence and power of God with us to those who need it and in those situations where we need it.  As we speak His Word, we release His power and His presence.

Increase your capacity to carry God’s power by increasing your study and diligence with the Word of God.  As you do you become a vessel that carries His presence, His power, His Spirit wherever you go!

God Bless you and have a great day!
