January 20, 2003 by Rose Murdock " the revelation of the mystery, … was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest..." Romans 16:25-26 Do you think that God can keep a secret? Obviously He can because He kept a secret from the devil for 4000 years. Right after Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden God told the devil that One would come who would bruise his head. The devil knew One would be born that would take away his newly acquired authority in the earth but he didn’t know who exactly or when He would come. The devil didn’t know how God was going to redeem mankind. If he knew the plan he never would have stirred up the hearts of men to kill Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:8). And now that Jesus has fulfilled the plan of God the plan is revealed and can be proclaimed to everyone! The fact that the devil was hanging around in the earth for 4000 years and yet never discovered what the plan was should tell us something. It tells us that God’s truth’s and wisdom are revealed by His Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:9-12). The Spirit of God reveals truth to the hearts of men. From His Spirit to our spirit. It’s important for us to see that the devil didn’t pick up on or discover the secret just because he was around for a long time. And just because we live a long time in the earth doesn’t mean we will automatically discover God’s truth or His wisdom. If the devil didn’t pick it up in 4000 years what makes us think we will in 80 or 90? The thing we need to do to find God’s wisdom and truth is to seek it from Him. God reveals these things to us in our hearts. We need to be listening! We need to be seeking! We need to open our hearts to Him and pay attention to what He wants to show us! "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. BUT God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 What a privilege it is to think that God Almighty wants to speak to us and reveal secrets. Do we appreciate that? Do we recognize what a valuable thing it is to have the Creator of the universe uncover hidden things to our hearts? The devil would have loved to have been able to uncover God’s secret. He knew the value of that information. Do we recognize the value of God’s wisdom and truth? God has gems for us. He was wisdom. He has truth. And He wants to give these gems to us. But even Jesus said not to ‘cast your pearls before swine’ (Matthew 7:6). You don’t give treasures to those who don’t appreciate the value of them or to those who would use them unjustly like the devil would have. Back in 1 Corinthians 2 we read:
Paul said we speak wisdom among them that are perfect or mature. Would you give a toddler an expensive vase to play with? No, because he doesn’t realize the value of it. Have you ever tried to tell someone something that you knew they needed to know but they didn’t know that they needed to know it? And they didn’t pay attention to you and it frustrated you because you knew how much they needed the information but yet they didn’t take it seriously? Or maybe they took that information and used it wrongly. It could even be something that’s for their own good. Something that will save them from being embarrassed or killed! There is wisdom that will be uncovered only by those who will recognize the value of it. Not the world’s wisdom, or the devil’s wisdom, but God’s wisdom. The hidden wisdom, which God reveals to our spirit by His Spirit. God has so much He wants to show us! Let’s not be content to just hang out in the earth or to hang out in the church and not truly uncover the secret truths He has for us. There is value to these truths. They are important. The information that the devil missed out on would have been extremely valuable—more like vital—to him. In the same way, the wisdom God has for us is not something we want to miss out on. They are things that are extremely valuable—more like vital—to us. If God has something for me that He says is vital to me then I want to know what it is! And the neat thing about it is that this is God’s secret. A secret that originates with Him. It’s not gossip. It’s not like us going around and saying, "Guess what I know about so and so." This is God Almighty revealing His plans--what He will do and what He has done. Plans and thoughts that have originated with God. Not second-hand secrets, but secrets right from the source of life! And these secrets are vitally important to us because they are how God will bring to pass His plans and purposes in our lives! "Father God, we want Your wisdom and Your truth. We recognize that Your wisdom and truth is vital to us. Your wisdom and truth is something to be greatly valued and appreciated. We will not take You or Your wisdom for granted. We’re asking that You reveal Your truths to us. We appreciate You and all that You have to say to us. We will not take these things lightly but we will take heed to what You show us and give them the value they deserve. We thank You in advance Father, in Jesus’ Name, Amen."
